  • OUTINGS IN 2026

THE BRITISH IRONWORKS MUSEUM near Oswestry is a very interesting place to visit, and our group enjoyed a day there in April. We had beautiful weather, and were able to wander around the site at our leisure to see some of the fantastic artwork models. We also enjoyed a buffet lunch which was delicious and there was plenty for us to enjoy. The shop also had some really nice things to buy, which one or two of the group did. A few of the group hired a six-seater buggy and rode around the site which was really good. A very enjoyable and happy day out for us all. Just for information, dogs are welcome on the site but not in the shop or cafe, however they can enjoy the buggy ride.

Our first outing was a fabulous lunch at the BIRMINGHAM COLLEGE OF FOOD. Once again we were treated to a lovely meal served by trainees who were very friendly, helpful and professional. It is good to support the college as they train the students very well. Please ensure you book a table if you wish to go as it is a very popular establishment.

  • OUTINGS IN 2025

THE DOWN INN, BRIDGNORTH was where we had a very good carvery lunch and were then entertained really well by a local singer who got
some of our group dancing and singing along. Very enjoyable afternoon, lovely food, and great company.

AFTERNOON TEA AT PIGEONS PARLOUR was enjoyed by quite a few members. We were given a choice of Traditional Afternoon Tea or Gentleman's Afternoon Tea, which was a savoury version. Everyone enjoyed their food, which was very high quality, plenty to eat and I do believe quite a few 'doggy bags' went home as there was enough food left over for tea at home! Very good afternoon, lovely people serving us and lots of tea/coffee too. Definitely another visit is planned in the not too distant future.

    STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT MUSEUM
A group of us spent a very interesting morning at the Regimental Museum where we were taken into the 'trenches' and told all about how our soldiers were treated and lived during the first world war.. A difficult period for them and everyone involved in the war, and all the animals that were lost too. Let's hope we never have to go through this again. Very interesting and it bought back memories of some of our parents and relatives alive during this time, and what they went through. A worthwhile visit.

AFTERNOON TEA AT MARSH FARM, ABBOTS BROMLEY We were all looking forward to tea at Marsh Farm, and once again it did not disappoint. Sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and lovely cream cakes to follow, all washed down with unlimited tea or coffee. Lovely staff, very friendly, and a most enjoyable, relaxing afternoon. Definitely visit again.

CADBURY HERITAGE CENTRE WITH LIGHT AFTERNOON TEA
    - visit around part of Cadbury World, a very interesting talk about the Cadbury family and the legacy they left behind, plus a talk about Bournville itself. A few free chocolate samples as we toured around, plus two lovely chocolate bars on arrival. Afternoon tea in the cafe was very nice, especially as it is located next to the shop, visited by quite a number in our group judging by the number of shopping bags on the coach going home.

COLLEGE OF FOOD, BIRMINGHAM UNIVERSITY was the venue for lunch in February. 39 of our members enjoyed a superb three course lunch served by the competent and friendly students. The food was delicious, the service very good, and very professional. Highly recommend this venue but please ensure you book your table in advance as it is a very popular place.
