BABBACOMBE

We started our journey to Babbacombe with InterChoice Travel, and shared the coach with people from all parts of the Black Country who were going on a mystery holiday, which turned out to be in Paignton.

On arrival at the hotel we were met by the Manager and then given our room keys. Soon after we went to dinner and enjoyed a lovely meal, followed by a singer/comedian in the lounge/bar area. I think we were all a little tired after our long journey.

Tuesday saw us on the coach again for a trip to Dartmouth. A harbour town where we saw people crabbing, and enjoying the lovely weather just strolling about. Plenty of cafes there for us to visit, a market selling crafts, food etc., and little shops to browse around. Lovely weather today too, but not as hot as it had been. Another good meal, and a singer afterwards.

The next day was free for us to do as we wished. Some went to Paignton on the bus, others to Torquay, and others went into Babbacombe. I also believe one of our group managed a paddle in the sea, something she insists on doing on all of her holidays! A group of us went to the Model Village which was excellent and well worth a visit. As it was hot we did not play crazy golf [and there was a queue too], but decided to visit the cafe and enjoy a drink and snack. After that a trip on the Oddecombe Cliff Railway down to the beach for a rest in the sun, then after the return journey we had another drink and snack at the railway cafe. The cheesy chips were delicious! After dinner the majority of us went to the theatre for 'Showtime', an excellent show of music, dancing and comedians. Very enjoyable evening not to be missed.

Thursday saw us visiting Brixham for a wander around this lovely fishing village and some of us having fresh crab sandwiches. Very nice place to look around, and also visit the Golden Hind ship. Our last evening was good too with a lady singer encouraging some of us get up and dance.

Our trip home on Friday was very long due to the usual motorway chaos, and a fire in West Bromwich when the smoke slowed down traffic. However, thanks to Fred our driver, we arrived back safely, tired but pleased to be home.

Two of our group celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary whilst on holiday and we celebrated this with a lovely cake, which was a surprise for them. Must thank them for buying us all a drink to celebrate. Congratulations to them both.

One of our group was a little poorly on holiday, but recovered enough to visit the theatre and Brixham.

A good holiday in a lovely hotel, food good, friendly staff, and great weather.
